Golfers in the Genesis Health Services Foundation Golf Challenge raised a record $86,000 to benefit people whose communication skills have been affected by stroke or other brain injury.
Proceeds from the challenge were granted for a project called “Aphasia at Home: Health Literacy for Patients Families and Caregivers.” The aphasia materials are available through libraries in the Quad-Cities.
A field of 220 golfers and 109 sponsors raised the record $86,000 on Sept. 11 at Davenport Country Club and Crow Valley Golf Club.
Lujack Lexus of the Quad-Cities was the tournament sponsor as part of the Lexus Champions for Charity, a series of 190 golf events held throughout the country.
