ERIE, Ill. — A Morrison, Ill., man was injured in a rollover accident early Saturday on Interstate 88, after apparently falling asleep at the wheel.

Whiteside County sheriff’s officials said Joshua J. Kolb, 29, was driving west near Erie, Ill., when his vehicle went off the road in the median.

He overcorrected to pull the vehicle back onto the road, sending it back across both lanes before striking a guardrail head-on.

The then vehicle flipped over in the roadway, sliding into a bridge abutment before flipping back onto its wheels, officials said.

Kolb was transported by Erie ambulance to Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus in Silvis, Ill., for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s department report. Charges are pending against Kolb.
