WELTON, Iowa — A woman and four children were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident on 190th Street the intersection of 280th Avenue east of Welton, Clinton County sheriff’s Lt. Tom Paarmann said in a news release.
The accident occurred at 5:41 p.m.
A 1994 Ford truck, driven by John McGarry, 46, of rural Delmar, was eastbound on 190th Street, Paarmann said. A 1992 car that was southbound on 280th Avenue and driven by Jessica H. Ahrens, 31, of rural Charlotte, allegedly pulled away from a stop sign and into McGarry’s path, he added.
Ahrens, along with Andy L. Ahrens, 9, Austin H. Ahrens, 8, and John J. Layne, 3, were taken to Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt. Jessica, Austin and Andy were treated and then released.
John Layne was transferred to University Hospitals, Iowa City, by Med Force Air Ambulance. His condition was unavailable late Wednesday.
A fourth child in the car, Jaiden R. Layne, 5, was taken by Med Force to Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport, and then transferred to University Hospitals, Iowa City. His condition also was unavailable late Wednesday.
McGarry was not injured.
