Democratic presidential hopeful Bill Richardson hasn’t stopped in the Quad-Cities yet, but he can now be seen on television.
Richardson, the governor of New Mexico, began running ads Wednesday introducing himself.
The spots are running statewide, including in the Quad-City region area.
The former energy secretary and United Nations ambassador in the Clinton administration is in his second term as governor.
The ad takes a humorous approach to laying out Richardson’s resume and record, with the governor applying for a job in front of a prospective employer who lists Richardson’s accomplishments and then asks, “So what makes you think you can be president?”
The ad ends with Richardson shooting a doleful glance at the camera.
The ad “reflects the governor’s personality,” Iowa campaign spokesman Tom Reynolds said.
Campaign aides say the idea is to get across his accomplishments in a way that gives people a window on his personality.
The campaign wouldn’t say how much they’re spending on the ads.
