CLINTON, Iowa — Four people were injured when their van was hit by a driver who ran a red light.

David Hurla, 64, of Clinton was driving a 1998 Chevrolet van southbound on North 4th Street at 1:27 p.m. Tuesday when the van was struck by a 2004 Buick driven by Kathryn Tiefenthal, 51, of Plainwell, Mich., who was traveling eastbound on 13th Avenue North and ran the red light at the intersection, police said.

Hurla and his passengers, Lynette Holden, 46, Diana Snyder, 51, and Alva Dent, 48, all of Clinton, were taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center-Clinton. The conditions were not available Wednesday.

Tiefenthal was not injured. She was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
