May day

Swing pitcher P.J. Walters continued a month-long trend as he earned his fourth win in five decisions, striking out three batters and giving up three hits in a scoreless four-inning effort.

Walters is now 4-0 in May and has allowed just 16 hits in 28 innings of work. The right-hander has struck out 29 batters and walked three in six appearances.

Double digits

The Swing’s Brandon Buckman became the first Midwest League player to reach 10 homers this season when he led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a game-tying shot to right.

Early exit

Beloit starting pitcher Jeff Manship left the mound in the bottom of the second inning in Sunday’s game after injuring his right leg.

The 6-foot-2 right-hander, a 14th-round pick of the Twins in the 2006 draft, is regarded as one of the top prospects on the Snappers’ roster. He entered the game with a 5-1 record and 1.56 ERA which ranked fourth in the league.

Early exit II

The Snappers took another hit in the sixth inning when catcher Allan De San Miguel had to helped off the field by his teammates after injuring his right ankle as he crossed first base after grounding out.
