Adam Clark, who starred as a linebacker at St. Ambrose only five seasons ago, has been named the defensive coordinator for the Fighting Bees.
Clark has spent the past two years as the secondary and strength and conditioning coach at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, after serving as a graduate assistant at SAU.
He replaces Mike Magistrelli, who was promoted to the head coaching position when Todd Sturdy left to become an assistant at Eastern Washington.
Clark was an NAIA all-American at St. Ambrose in 2001 and was a two-time All-Mid-States Football Association West Conference selection. He received his master’s degree in organizational leadership from St. Ambrose in 2004.
At Graceland, he helped the school win its first conference title in 30 years.
“When the possibility of coming back to St. Ambrose began to materialize, I was extremely excited,’’ Clark said. “I had reached a point in my career where I felt ready to take the next step and the prospect of taking that step in a program that has experienced so much success thrilled me.’’
