TODAY: (Updated 2:26 p.m.) A Davenport couple got more than they bargained for after police arrested them on drug and child endangerment charges Thursday night.
Jessica Johnson, 27, and Michael Whitney, 25, both of 637 Oak St., told officers they allowed drug dealers to package and sell drugs at the house in exchange for financial assistance to help pay delinquent bills, according to police.
Johnson is charged with three counts of child endangerment/no injury and one count of hosting a drug house, according to court documents. Whitney is charged with one count of drug possession/delivery of marijuana, three counts of child endangerment/no injury, hosting a drug house and drug stamp.
They were arrested following a search of their house after officers were called there at 9:23 p.m. because of suspicious activity.
Police found used hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana and live ammunition in the house where the couple lives with their 7-month-old, 5-year-old, and 7-year-old children, according to police.
Officers also discovered 373 grams of marijuana in the house and reported finding animal feces in one of the children’s bedrooms. Police witnessed Whitney selling drugs from the house, according to police reports.
