Two Bettendorf men who allegedly confronted another man and his family at a Davenport restaurant and hit him and his 2-year-old child with a metal napkin holder were arrested Friday.
The two, Michael Joseph Jordan, 29, of 2636 Hawthorne Drive, and Ryan J. Farhat, 25, of 2624 Hawthorne Court, were each charged with simple assault, assault with intent and assault with injury. Both men were released from the Scott County Jail on $2,000 bond a piece.
According to Davenport police, Jordan spotted the unidentified victim and his family Friday at about 1:30 p.m. at a restaurant in the 5300 block of Elmore Circle and allegedly called Farhat to help him confront the man.
The two then allegedly walked over to the table where the victim was sitting with his wife and 1- and 2-year-old children. Jordan then allegedly put his hands on the two children and apologized to the family “for what he was about to do,” police said.
He then allegedly picked up a metal napkin holder and slammed it into the victim’s face. It bounced off and hit the 2-year-old in the shoulder.
Police said the woman then got up and stood between the two men and her children. She was allegedly grabbed by Farhat and pushed aside.
The two men fled after the attack and were arrested by police.
