Man pleads guilty in drunken driving fatality

An East Moline man pleaded guilty Thursday to three felony counts of drunken driving stemming from a fatal accident in November 2005.

Adam M. Mazola, 23, faces a maximum of eight years in prison when he is sentenced Dec. 13.

Joseph Lazaro Velez, 21, was killed in the accident at 7th Street and 30th Avenue in East Moline and two others were injured.

Mazola, who has remained in custody while awaiting trial since January 2006, remained in custody Thursday on $300,000 bail.
