Couple sues child care provider

The parents of a boy who was allegedly injured at Just Kids Child Care Inc. in Milan, Ill., have filed a suit against the not-for-profit organization.

The suit filed this week in Rock Island County Circuit Court claims the child of Jeremi Miller and Mikal Martinson suffered a gash to the head on Nov. 15, 2005, after a wooden book shelf fell on him.

The suit seeks compensation for the 3 year old’s medical bills in an amount to exceed $50,000. The plaintiffs argue the bookshelf was not properly secured.

Just Kids Child Care is located at 803 E. 8th Ave. in Milan. A representative there said they have not been notified of the lawsuit.

A hearing date is set for Jan. 24.
