Bring back the firing squad

Ellen Goodman’s column “Tinker all you want, capital punishment is still inhumane” (Oct. 13) forgets the real victims, the victims of murder. How does she think they died? Did they die with excruciating pain as they were stabbed, shot or beaten to death?

People argue using drugs to put the murderers to sleep is inhumane because this procedure doesn’t always work as planned.

But once again, let’s think of the real victims, not of the murderers.

My solution is to get back to the basics. What is wrong with going back to the firing squad? Getting shot is sure to be quick and painless, even though these murderers don’t deserve it.

We spend and have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to incarcerate these guilty losers in our society and will continue to do so until the real victims’ rights are considered by the courts and the people against the death penalty.
