Chinese association to celebrate New Year
The U.S. China People’s Friendship Association, Quad-Cities Chapter, will hold a potluck dinner at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Rivermont Collegiate, 1821 Sunset Drive.
The dinner will celebrate the Chinese New Year, and tea, lemonade and tableware will be provided.
Admission is free for members, $2 per person with a dish and $5 per person without a dish.

Family Museum registering teams for trivia night
The Family Museum will have a night of trivia March 8 at The Lodge, Bettendorf.
Trivia buffs can get their best, or at least most fun, team of eight together for an evening of fun to help cure that cabin fever at Family Museum Trivia Night.
Doors open at 6 p.m, and questions start at 7 p.m.
Teams are registered on a first-come, first-served basis, and pre-registration is required. No registrations will be accepted at the door.
The cost is $200 for a team of eight, which includes food catered by The Lodge. There will be cash bar. All participants must be at least 19.

Trailriders seeks
riders, volunteers
The staff from New Kingdom Trailriders will be distributing applications to riders and volunteers from 9:30 a.m. until noon Feb. 2 at The Lodge, 900 Spruce Hills Drive.
The event will include general information and videos about therapeutic horseback riding with New Kingdom.
Riders must be at least 3 years old, be physically or mentally disabled and have a doctor’s approval. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and must attend training sessions, which begin in April.

Bettendorf police
to offer citizen academy
The Bettendorf Police Citizen Academy will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursdays for nine weeks from Feb. 21 to April 17.
Participants must be at least 18, live in the Iowa Quad-Cities and are subject to a background and criminal history check.
The nine-week program is designed to give a basic knowledge of how police departments operate. Instructions will be given by police officers from various agencies.

Cloggers club
to offer lessons
The Quad-City Cloggers Club will offer beginners lessons at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6 and 13, at the Square and Round Hall, 323ΕΎ 17th St.
No partners are needed for the dance class and taps are not required. Smooth-soled shoes that slide on wood are recommended.
First lesson is free, then $4 per class for beginners.
