    First Lutheran Church in Rock Island announces its Holy Week services. The theme for the Lenten season, Woven in the Love of God, concludes this Easter week with the cutting and creation of a new garment, a new life in Jesus Christ.

    - Maundy Thursday, March 20: 2 p.m., spoken liturgy only; 7 p.m., stripping of the altar.

    - Good Friday, March 21: 7 p.m., prayer around the cross.

    - Easter Vigil, March 22: 7 p.m., held at Ascension Chapel, Augustana College.

    - Easter Day, March 23: 6:30 a.m., community sunrise service; 7:30 a.m., Easter breakfast; 9 a.m., children’s Easter activity; 10:15 a.m., festival worship.

    The Longview Community Easter service is sponsored by these Rock Island churches: First Paradise Baptist, Greater Antioch Baptist, Church of Peace, Solid

    Rock Spiritual, St. John’s Lutheran, Apostolic Truth Temple, Calvary Cross Evangelical Free, and First Lutheran. The sermon will be given by Pastor Mayer, First Lutheran, with Jarrod Parker, Greater Antioch, leading prayer and musical selections by David McAdams, First

    Paradise.
