Annual Mexican-American Debutante Ball is April 12
The 27th annual Debutante Ball organized by the Quad-Cities Mexican-American Organization will be celebrated 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, April 12, at the Col Ballroom, 1012 W. 4th St., Davenport.
The event serves to “celebrate high school graduating senior girls of Hispanic descent and also serves to acknowledge all their achievements,” said Yvonne Jorge, the president of the organization.
A Debutante Tea for the girls took place March 9 at Moline’s Deere-Wiman House.
The upcoming occasion is a family event in which “the debutantes must be escorted by their fathers, uncles or any other important relative,” Jorge said.
Michael Cervantes, the manager of the Col Ballroom and a member of the organization, said the Debutante Ball also serves to credit parents for supporting their graduating high school daughters.
During the event, the debutantes and their escorts will perform a waltz, and then all of the attendees are welcome to celebrate with the debutantes.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $8 per adult and $5 per student.
