Sheryl Crow, George Jones to visit the Q-C -- separately

Two spots on the Quad-City area concert calendar were filled Friday afternoon.

Nine-time Grammy-winner Sheryl Crow and country music legend George Jones are coming to the area in separate concerts.

Crow will perform at the i wireless Center in Moline on Tuesday, June 3, and Jones will play the RiverCenter/Adler Theatre in Davenport on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Crow is on her “Detours” tour to promote the album of the same name, which was released in February. Her first studio album in 2 1/2 years is inspired by “how I feel things are going in the world and what’s happened to me the last couple of years,” according to a news release.

(Within the space of a few weeks in February 2006, Crow saw her engagement to bicycling champion Lance Armstrong end and then was diagnosed with breast cancer.)

The opening act is Brandi Carlile.

Tickets are $54 and $41, and they go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at TicketMaster outlets, including the i wireless Center box office, by telephone at (563) 326-1111 and online at TicketMaster.com.

Jones, country music’s legendary “Possum,” claims more than 160 hits, more than any musician in any genre, dating to “White Lightning” in 1959.
