Before Chick-fil-A opens it first free-standing Quad-City restaurant, local owner-operator Jeremy Tatman will host a customer appreciation day from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the new store at 2945 E. 53rd St., Davenport.

The site had been occupied by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts until it closed late last month after a six-year run. Tatman said renovations on the store will begin soon, and it’s expected to open late in 2008.

Sunday’s event will feature free chicken sandwiches for everyone, games for children and adults and a deejay. Every half-hour, names will be drawn to win certificates for 52 combo meals, one for each of 52 weeks.

NorthPark Mall in Davenport and SouthPark Mall in Moline both have Chick-fil-A restaurants. Tatman owns and operates the NorthPark store. Chick-fil-A is an Atlanta-based fast-food chain.
