Good Monday, Quad-Cities. Back to work we go. At 6 a.m. it’s 50 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.  The National Weather Service is predicting a beautiful day with mostly sunny skies and a high near 76 degrees. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 51 degrees. But hang on, thunderstorms are looming on the horizon. Rain is predicted for Tuesday night through Wednesday. Stay tuned.

The Mississippi River in the Quad-Cities  continues to recede. It is currently at 17.49 feet this morning and steadily falling.

In Rock Island County, 63rd Street (County Highway L) from Knoxville Road to 176th Avenue (County Highway NN)  will be closed  from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning today until May 16 for road work.

Also on the Illinois side of the river, road work is slated to begin today on frontage roads along the Avenue of the Cities (42nd Avenue) in East Moline. Under construction are the south side frontage road from Archer Drive to 7th Street and the north side frontage road between 7th Street and Kennedy Drive. The project should be completed by mid-June.
