Former employee sues AIDS Project Quad-Cities

A former employee of AIDS Project Quad-Cities has filed a lawsuit against the organization and is seeking back pay and lost benefits.

Timothy P. Kiss filed the suit Friday in U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois, claiming he was dismissed as an outreach worker during August 2005 in retaliation for filing a harassment complaint in March 2005.

The complaint was filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the lawsuit states.

The suit does not detail the alleged harassment. Attorney John Doak, who represents Kiss, declined comment Monday and said that Kiss asked him not to discuss the suit.

According to the suit, Kiss was hired by AIDS Project Quad-Cities in 2004.

Efforts to contact someone representing AIDS Project Quad-Cities for comment Monday were unsuccessful.

The organization provides case management for those infected with HIV/AIDS and offers a variety of prevention/education programs to reduce the spread of HIV.
