Alleman sweeps Rocky
Rock Island Alleman pitchers were as hittable as they’ve been all spring Saturday.
Fortunately for the Pioneers, their hitters were as productive as they’ve been.
Alleman (17-4, 8-2 Western Big Six) teed off repeatedly against host Rock Island, notching 15-9 and 8-5 victories.
Alleman’s Game 1 starter, Pace Bennett, allowed lefties to go 8-for-12 against him, but the ever-efficient Pioneers’ offense matched its 15 hits with as many runs.
In the second game, Alleman scored in six of seven innings, reaching base in every frame.
The Rocks, who fell to 3-7 in league play, rallied in each game, but they couldn’t slow the Pioneers.
“Rock Island is very scrappy,” Alleman coach Chris Lemon said. “They came back, but it seemed like every time they made a run, we came back and took the steam out of them.”
Justin Hauer and Jake Hemmen homered for the Pioneers.

Becht, Yount lead UT
QUINCY, Ill. — Adam Becht had a career day for United Township.
Garrett Yount didn’t have a bad day, either, as the Panthers swept Quincy 14-2 and 15-3.
Becht, who was a combined 4-for-8 with five runs scored and six RBIs on the day, struck out a career-high 13 batters in Game 2. Becht, who is 3-2 in conference play, allowed four hits and two earned runs. He walked two.
In his past three league games, Becht is 3-0 with a 1.15 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 181/3 innings.
Yount, who was the Game 1 winner, improved to 4-1 in league play. Yount entered Saturday’s league play with 17 strikeouts in four games. On Saturday, he struck out 12 in five innings.
The Panthers ended the Big Six season winners of six straight.

Maroons sweep Streaks
GALESBURG, Ill. — Blustery as the conditions were, nothing short of a bolt of lightning would have slowed the Moline softball team.
The Maroons swept Galesburg 15-0, 5-0 to clinch the Western Big Six title.
Courtney Taube threw six no-hit innings in Game 1 and finished the day 7-for-8 at the plate.
A league title is a matter of everyday business for the Maroons.
“I think they expect it, and it’s something we talk about every year,” Moline coach Mark Gerlach said. “We’re at the point now where we kind of know exactly what we want to be.”
Moline (17-4, 9-1) won the Big Six title for the third straight season.
Rocky-Alleman postponed
Rock Island and Rock Island Alleman had their Western Big Six Conference doubleheader postponed.
The game will be made up Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Alleman Athletic Complex.
Alleman’s contest with Rockridge, which was scheduled for Thursday, probably won’t be rescheduled.
