Congratulations to the Davenport Promise program community leaders for their initiative to improve and make a positive difference for the future of students, families and businesses in the QCA. The program is similar to the Kalamazoo Promise which has made a positive impact on job growth and economic development.

Education is the key to economic and work force development in the QCA and for the United States of America to become a national leader of skilled trades, commerce and industry, education and government service. The Davenport Promise can make a positive difference by partnering with QCA community organizations in rebuilding and growing the community for economic growth in the next 10-20 years.

By providing cost effective tuition for training and education, Davenport Promise provides community development benefits:

- Incentive for students to develop education and skills for jobs.

- Partnerships with QCA businesses for funding encourages developing a skilled work force and stimulates economic development.

- Partnerships among Davenport public schools, Scott Community Colleges and QCA businesses strengthen community development for the future.

The bottom line will be an educated, skilled workforce for the QCA.

What did you do on Black Friday?
Out shopping as soon as the stores opened.
Waited until the early rush crowds thinned out and then went shopping.
Took my time and went shopping later in the day.
    Did all my shopping online.
Spent the day doing anything BUT shopping.
