A while back, letters were printed from Quad-Citians recommending people to vote “yes” on the Davenport promise. It was tabled, but it’s back with a vengeance.

Why are they trying to ram this down our throats at our expense? Using my tax money to pay for somebody else’s kid to go to college, you’re kidding right?

The “yes” people say this works in other towns. They neglected to tell you that no new businesses moved in and in fact a few moved out. Also, there is no proof that recent graduates are coming back. The big kicker is, in these other towns the promise is 100 percent privately funded!

Here in Davenport they don’t have enough money to hire more police officers, firefighters, fix streets, etc. Shouldn’t this be their top priority?

They say this is needed because kids have lost hope of going to college because of cost. Ever heard of working and students loans? If you want a handout go stand in the soup line.

No matter how they sugar coat this and use political talk, don’t let them use our tax money to fund this!
