Nathan Gaudet will not be paroled until at least the fall after members of an Illinois parole board officially voted Wednesday to keep the Moline teenager in juvenile custody.

Gaudet was 16 years old when he dismembered the slain remains of Adrianne Reynolds, also 16, of East Moline. Reynolds’ adoptive father and step mother, Tony and Joann Reynolds, said they knew early in the week that the rejection was coming.

They said that members of the parole board told them Gaudet likely will be released on or around his 20th birthday in November. He will have served less than four years in a five-year sentence by that time.

By releasing him a year before his sentence is served, the Reynoldses said, a parole officer will be assigned to keep track of him for another year. He then could be required to undergo routine drug tests, counselling and other probationary terms.

Gaudet pleaded guilty to dismembering Reynolds’ remains several days after she was strangled by classmates Sarah Kolb and Cory Gregory.

Kolb is serving 48 years and Gregory is serving 40 years for the murder. Each was sentenced to an additional five years for concealing the homicide. Reynolds was murdered on Jan. 21, 2005.
