The Quad-City Times had an article titled “Cubs in the pink with sweep” (May 12, 2008) and stated “North Siders move into tie for first place.” A check of the records show the Cubs at 22 wins and 15 losses, a .595 winning percentage. The Cardinals are at 23 wins and 16 losses for a .590 winning percentage. How is this a tie? If the season ended with these same percentages then the Cubs would be division champions. Let’s give the Cubs their due when they earn it.
