Devin Allbaugh of Pleasant Valley just picked up the Class 4A state championship in the 3,200 meters, and a late charge vaulted his teammate, Charlie Paul, into third place.

It's been a good day so far for Quad-City area athletes. Ethan Tuftee of Davenport Assumption won the Class 2A title in the shot put, and several individuals have runner-up finishers.

Davenport Assumption's Mary Menster finished second in the Class 2A 3,000 meters, and Maquoketa's Trisha Miller was second in the 3A 3,000. Danielle Frere of Muscatine placed second in the 4A discus. Erin Burmester of Central DeWitt took fourth in the discus in 3A.

In the 3,200 relays, area teams showed their resolve. West Liberty won the Class 2A title, and later in the day, Northeast came from behind to win the 1A race.

Check back throughout the day for updates.
