    COLUMBUS JCT., Iowa — A thief escaped with an undetermined amount of cash after assaulting a store clerk in Columbus Junction, police said.

    A clerk at the New York Dollar Store was assaulted and the money was taken from the cash register about 10 a.m. Thursday by a 25- to 30-year-old who was around 6-foot tall with a medium build, according to police. A dark-colored vehicle was seen leaving the area.

    The clerk was treated at the scene by Louisa County Ambulance personnel.
