COLUMBUS JCT., Iowa — Plans are under way to establish a community health center in Columbus Junction.

Health center officials told the City Council this week that the facility will be available to Louisa County or neighboring area residents. A temporary facility is expected to have staff starting Tuesday while plans continue to be made to construct a permanent $1 million health center.

In other news, city officials hope information obtained from a test well will give the green light to drill a third production well for the city near the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The city council accepted a $25,285 bid from Northway Well and Pump, Marion. If the test results come back positive, officials plan to begin drilling a production well early this fall to add to the city’s two wells.

Also, repair work on the Iowa 92 viaduct later this summer will force a slowdown of traffic to one lane  controlled by a stoplight.
