GO&DO

A reader suggested I cover The Warmth, a Quad-City area band that played at RIBCO’s outdoor show Saturday night.

I was already booked for that night, but I will be writing a preview of this weekend’s outdoor performances.

RIBCO is hosting three outdoor shows for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and Quad-City favorite The Travoltas will be making the trip down from Ancaster, Canada, to perform Saturday and Sunday evenings.

RIBCO is the only public venue in the United States at which the disco cover band plays.

Colin Lapsley, who handles vocals and guitar for The Travoltas, said that every time the band makes the eight-hour trip to the Quad-Cities, it is greeted by crowds of people who have planned their vacations around seeing them play at RIBCO in The District of downtown Rock Island.

For more information on The Travoltas and RIBCO’s outdoor shows, get a copy of Thursday’s Go & Do section or check back right here before then at qctimes.com/goanddo.

Thanks to the reader who made the suggestion to cover RIBCO’s outdoor shows. If anyone else knows of a show or special event in the area, let me know and chances are I’ll head over to check it out.
