Sheryl Crow answers readers' questions

By Go & Do staff | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 | () comments

“I saw your story in Shape Magazine a while back and you look AMAZING! Do you find it difficult to be disciplined in your diet and exercise or is it something you have always been pretty conscious of?” — Jama, Q-C

Crow: “I am blessed genetically. Everyone in my family is lean. I do try to eat healthy, mainly for my health, and I try to exercise, mainly for my psyche. It’s a great way to sort of level out your day and energy.”

“It seems like her music style has changed. Her first few CDs were very original ‘rock’ ... kind of edgy. Now she seems to be leaning towards a pop style. Is that intentional or just how things have evolved?” — Becky, Davenport

Crow: “The third and fourth are maybe a little bit more pop, but this one is a direct throwback to the first record.”

“What are her suggestions for coping after a personal setback such as she’s had? She’s moved on, but just how?” — Deirdre, Long Grove, Iowa

Crow: “You just experience it. The whole idea of ‘Just try to stay busy, try to keep yourself distracted’ is really bad. It keeps us in a state of never really experiencing our lives. I think truly holding the emotions and experiencing it is the best way to create real experience. The best way to experience anger is to be angry and then work through it. That’s my favorite advice. And do the things that make life feel normal — whether it’s going out and running or sitting at a pottery wheel or riding your horse, whatever it is that makes your day on a daily basis feel normal.”

“Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band ... AND ... the “Rumours” say she is joining them for a tour next year (although Lindsey Buckingham downplays it publicly). So, my question is: Any truth to the ‘Rumours’ that you are joining Fleetwood Mac?” — Name and address not provided

Crow: “That was all a rumor. I’m doing my own tour.”
