River Drive between Brady and 4th streets will close at 8 a.m. today because of rising floodwaters.

A temporary earthen berm is being built on the road.

Davenport public works trucks will be hauling dirt to the area from 46th Street and Elmore Avenue down Jersey Ridge Road through the Village of East Davenport.

Police ask that drivers avoid Jersey Ridge Road. Police may stop traffic at times and set up barricades during this time.

It will take about two days to complete, city officials say.
