ALEDO, Ill. — A rural Aledo man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty but mentally ill to an arson charge.

Justin Howell, 20, was arrested Jan. 10 following a blaze at a mobile home at 1151 Illinois 94. Howell lived at the property, which sustained heavy smoke, fire and damage.

The Aledo Fire Department battled the fire and received mutual aid from the Reynolds and Viola Fire Departments.

Firefighters were on the scene for about one hour. There were no injuries.

The residence was located 2 miles north of Aledo. Howell pled guilty to a Class 2 felony Wednesday in Mercer County Circuit Court. He will be sentenced July 15 and remains in the Mercer County Jail on $75,000 bond.
