A possible agreement between the city of Moline and developers of the Kone Centre will not be discussed by city leaders Tuesday night but could come up in a couple of weeks.
Last week, aldermen took no action on the agreement after developer Rodney Blackwell failed to appear at the meeting to answer questions about the finances for the proposed
18-story tower.
The next day, Blackwell talked to city officials and told them he would submit the information they requested. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher said city staff still didn’t have that information Monday but discussions with Blackwell have been ongoing.
“We’re communicating,” he said. “I think it was just premature of us to take it to council without all of the information.”
Steinbrecher said the staff had good intentions in wanting to help the $55.7 million project move forward but should have waited.
Negotiations with Kone could be finished and ready for approval at the committee-of-the-whole meeting July 15. He said that there is no meeting next week.
