Police arrest 2 in Davenport robbery

Davenport police have arrested two men and are searching for a third in connection with an armed robbery Wednesday at a downtown barbershop.
Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said that at 3:10 p.m. three men, one armed with a lead pipe, rushed into the VIP Barber Shop, 305 W. 16th St., and attacked, beat and robbed 21-year-old Cleotha Young as he was getting his hair cut.
Young, the shop’s owner, refused medical treatment.
One of the alleged robbers, Wade J. Jones, 22, of Davenport turned himself into police. He is charged with first-degree robbery.
Another alleged suspect, Michael Elijah Gabriel Williams, 16, of Davenport was captured by police after a short foot chase. Williams allegedly was carrying a loaded firearm. He is charged with first-degree robbery, carrying a concealed dangerous weapon and aggravated interference with official acts.
The third alleged suspect, Charles Edward Bateman, 21, of Davenport is charged with first-degree robbery. Bateman is still being sought by police. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to call the Davenport Police Department at (563) 326-7979.
First-degree robbery is a Class B felony under Iowa law that carries a mandatory
25-year prison sentence, 70 percent, or 17.5 years, of which must be served before parole can be granted.
