Riverbend Theatre puts the 'fun' in dysfunctional

Life’s tough enough for a teenager as it is, much less having a debilitating disease that causes you to age four times faster than anyone else.

That’s what’s faces the title character in “Kimberly Akimbo,” the second production by the Riverbend Theatre Collective.

Played by Peggy Freeman, Kimberly is forced to face her own mortality and the prospect of first love with a fellow teen (Dustin Oliver) who has attention deficit disorder. Aaron Sullivan and Jaci Entwistle play Kimberly’s parents, and Denise Yoder plays an ex-con aunt.

Riverbend warns that the dark comedy contains strong language and adult situations.
