As a great-grandchild of a family who once owned a small farm south of the Quad-Cities, I can say I am angry and sad at the change of the name of The Mark convention center. There was no apparent reason for the change other than a very shrewd and probably lucrative corporate plan.
It was John Deere & Co. that donated the present site and helped to secure construction funding. As far as I am concerned you, i wireless, are guilty of a defacto attempt to undermine a figure of history to all who remember the pride of craftsmanship of a John Deere product. The company,
i wireless, could still have its name as a promotion on any handbill of events or the marquee.
Why not a name or symbol more commemorative of our local history, like the steel plow, the ax handle or the wooden harrow?
Shame on you i wireless.
