Good Monday morning, Quad-Cities. Back to work. At 6 a.m. it’s 70 degrees with fog in the Quad-Cities. Today showers and thunderstorms are likely before 7 a.m. Then it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 89 degrees. Looks like summer is finally here. Break out the air conditioners. Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 1 a.m. The low will be around 71. degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The John Deere Classic is this week.  You can take a tour of Deere Run’s 18-hole layout on an interactive course map at qctimes.com/multimedia. Included is analysis from Andy Stoterau, the pro at Deere Run, and Butch Haverland, the head pro at Oakwood Country Club.

• Veteran Times golf writer Craig DeVrieze, assistant managing editor for sports Don Doxsie and staff writers Eric Page and Andrew Petersen will collaborate with an army of photographers, news reporters and multi-media journalists to provide the latest news of the John Deere Classic both in print and online at qctimes.com.   Included will be an ongoing blog Deere Diary, plus daily slideshows.

• Classic Times, a special four-page wrap around the regular print Times Sports section, will provide an in-depth look at the tournament every day, beginning  Thursday and continuing for five straight days.

• On tap today is John Deere Golf Pro-am  at 11 a.m.

A number of road projects begin today in Bettendorf including:

• 6th Street will be closed to all traffic from State Street to Holmes Street and from Holmes Street to Mississippi Boulevard for a sewer and paving project. Traffic will be maintained in both directions along Holmes Street through a gap in the 6th Street construction. The work will continue four to six weeks.

• Also, 6th Street will be closed half-width on the east (northbound) side from Holmes Street to the centerline of Riverview Terrace. This will require alternating two-way traffic on the west side pavement in this segment.

• Grant Street to River Drive will be reduced to one-lane traffic west of 8th Street. Also, the portion of Grant Street that splits off from U.S. 67 to 6th Street at Meier Park will be closed off for construction staging.

• Central Avenue will be barricaded at several locations and parking prohibited between 14th and 28th streets.  Two-way alternating traffic will be required between 21st and 23rd streets.  This is in preparation for asphalt resurfacing in late July or early August.

In Illinois, westbound ramps on Illinois 92 at 7th and 18th avenues are closed beginning today for roadwork.

Check for other area closings and closings across Iowa and Illinois before you head out this morning.
