Two 15-year-olds, one on a four-wheeler and one on a dirt bike, are accused of harassing people on the Duck Creek bike path in Davenport and then leading police on a chase through a neighborhood.
The two were issued several citations. They include reckless driving and driving on the bike path. The Quad-City Times does not name juveniles charged with less than felonies.
Their vehicles were impounded.
According to the Davenport Police Department:
Officers had received reports for the past few weeks of two teens forcing people from the bike path, while being “rude, threatening and belligerent.” The two fled when police came.
Complaints came to the police again Thursday. When officers responded to the area near 32nd and Sheridan streets, bike path users directed police to where the two went.
“When they saw an approaching police car they fled at a high rate of speed southbound,” Capt. David Struckman said in a news release. “During the next few minutes they ran numerous stop signs and disobeyed many traffic regulations and even drove across private property while failing to yield to the emergency vehicles and attempting to ditch the police.”
They pulled into a garage in the 2300 block of Armil Place, where officers found them and took them into custody.
