Postal carriers collect school supplies

Quad-City area residents can donate school supplies for Quad-City area schools on two upcoming Saturdays.

Mail carriers will pick up donations July 19 in Coal Valley, Colona, East Moline, Milan, Moline, Rock Island and Silvis, and on Aug. 2 in Bettendorf, Blue Grass, Buffalo, Davenport, LeClaire, Pleasant Valley and Walcott.

Notebook paper, pens, tissues, backpacks, scissors, watercolor paints, pocket folders, glue sticks, erasers, washable markers, rules and notebooks are needed for First Day Project, a united school supply drive. Monetary donations may be sent to Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, 852 Middle Road, Suite 100, Bettendorf, IA 52722. Donors may designate a particular school on the check note.
