Blackhawk Hotel: A wasted renovation

A week ago, I read that the Davenport council is “moving forward with redevelopment of the Blackhawk Hotel.”

Am I the only person that can’t understand why we need two hotels in downtown Davenport? Why would anyone want to stay at the Blackhawk when that beautiful Radisson Hotel is in the next block?

I stayed at the Blackhawk a few years back and it has nothing to offer, in my opinion. OK, so Cary Grant died there. Big deal.

I think using our taxpayers’ money for redevelopment of the Blackhawk Hotel is like pouring money down a rat hole.

If we saved everything old we would still be living in caves.
