| Article: | GUEST COLUMN: Attention needed for real national treasure On this Fourth of July, as we Iowans struggle to preserve flood-ravaged documents and historic memorabilia, other Americans will stand in long lines to read the Declaration of Independence. Try as they might, however, these visitors to the National Archives will not be able to make out many of the words on that precious piece of parchment. It is a sad fact of history that we nearly loved this document to death. |
