Meet the Magraths of Hazelhurst, Miss. Grandpa’s close to death, Babe (played by Karrie McLaughlin) is petrified of her upcoming 30th birthday, Meg (Jessica Nicol) is back after trying her luck as a singer in L.A., and Babe (Ashley Hoskins) shoots her lawyer husband while covering up an affair. It’s just a typical day in playwright Beth Henley’s dramedy “Crimes of the Heart,” opening July 11 at Playcrafters Barn Theatre in Moline.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning play was nominated for a Tony Award, and its 1986 movie adaptation was nominated for three Oscars.
Jeri Benson directs the Playcrafters version, which also features Lance Hanson, Broc Nelson and Donna Weeks.
