SHOW TO SEE: The Postmortems will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the Redstone Room, 129 Main St., Davenport. The Quad-City duo of Devin Kirby-Hansen and Al Raymond uses just a drum kit and a bass to make music.
Area bands Chew Toy and Wax Cannon will open the show. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $5. For more information, visit redstoneroom.com or myspace.com/thepostmortems on the Web.
FOR TEENS: Signup is open for the Davenport Public Library’s third annual teen Battle of the Bands. The event begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Fairmount Street branch of the library, 3000 N. Fairmount St.
Entry forms are available at the downtown (321 Main St.) and Fairmount libraries. The winning band will get $100 the night of the contest and paid gigs throughout the summer. All bands will receive a participation prize. There is a $20 entry fee.
SHE SAID WHAT?: Julie Dutchak, lead singer for all-girl cover band Catfight, on why it’s important for band members to be friends, too:
“It doesn’t feel like a job to us. It’s like, ‘Alright, here we are, let’s have a good time.’
I think that makes a difference in the chemistry onstage, and I think that’s unique, too. A lot of people that you see in bands, they’re not all good friends, but we all really like each other.”

MYSPACE BAND OF THE WEEK: Daytrotter Presents is bringing in Amos Lee for a recording session for daytrotter.com and a show at 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Huckleberry’s Pizza Parlor, 223 18th St., Rock Island. Shelley Short will be the opening act. Lee plays a combination of folk, soul and jazz, and has toured with Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, Paul Simon and Merle Haggard.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door, and can be purchased at Huckleberry’s during its business hours or by contacting daytrotter@gmail.com.
