A 58-year-old Moline man has been sentenced to six years and one month in federal prison after pleading guilty to a charge of receiving and possessing child pornography.
John C. McConaghy was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court, Rock Island, to 73 months in prison. He had pleaded guilty to the charge March 14.
According to a news release issued by the U.S. Department of Justice for the Central District of Illinois, government prosecutors presented evidence that McConaghy’s computer had nearly 3,000 images and 200 videos of child pornography including images of children under age 12.
The case was investigated by the Rock Island Police Department, the Central Illinois Cyber Crimes Taskforce at Peoria, and the FBI.
