Heavy rain fell overnight in the Quad-Cities and more rain is expected in the forecast for Sunday evening, the National Weather Service, Davenport has reported.
Meteorologist Andy Ervin said that as of 12:05 a.m. Sunday, up to 1 1/4 inches of rain had fallen on the Quad-Cities.
There have been reports of flash flooding along portions of River Drive near the downtown Davenport area.
Ervin said that by Sunday morning as much as 1 1/2 inches of rain is likely.
Sunday will be mostly hot and partly cloudy. A complex of thunderstorms forming across Iowa is expected to bring more heavy rain and the possibility of flash flooding to the Quad-Cities by Sunday evening.
“We’ll be at a higher risk of flash floods” because of the complex of thunderstorms.
