A 20-year-old Davenport man is facing three charges of second-degree sexual abuse after he allegedly molested three juveniles, including two juveniles in a case that dates back to 2002.

Charles E. Potter, of 1907 W. 2nd St., was being held Tuesday night in the Scott County Jail on $100,000 cash bond.

Second-degree sexual abuse  is a Class B felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of up to 25 years.

Davenport police detective Mark Dinneweth said the most recent case against Potter involves a charge of sexual abuse against one juvenile victim in a case that has been open for a couple of months, while the case dating back to 2002 involves the sexual abuse of two juvenile victims. The victims are both male and female.

Dinneweth said the statute of limitations on sex cases is 10 years after the victim turns 18.

While Dinneweth would not disclose the nature of the abuse in the two cases, he said the allegations involve “more than touching” of the three victims.
