Davenport man charged with burglary at ex-girlfriend's apartment

A 21-year-old Davenport man is facing a charge of first-degree burglary after he allegedly entered his estranged girlfriend’s apartment and assaulted the man she was with.
According to the affidavit filed by Davenport police detective Brandon Noonan, Matthew Fensterbusch of 935 E. River Drive is alleged to have gone to his estranged girlfriend’s apartment at 6:36 a.m. Tuesday.
Noonan’s affidavit said that Fensterbusch was not invited over nor is he on the lease.
According to the affidavit, Fensterbusch went to the apartment because he thought the woman might be cheating on him. Using a key to the apartment, Fensterbusch went inside and found his girlfriend and another man in the apartment.
Fensterbusch allegedly struck the man. The male victim ran from the apartment.
Fensterbusch also is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly throwing the man’s cell phone after him. The phone is valued at $200 and was damaged.
He also is facing a charge of theft in the fourth-degree for taking a Coach purse valued at $400. According to Noonan’s affidavit, Fensterbusch said he bought it for the woman and gave it to her early in their relationship.
Fensterbusch was being held Tuesday night in the Scott County Jail on $27,000 bond.
