The Interstate 80 bridge at LeClaire was built in 1967 and carries 33,500 vehicles per day. The most recent inspection information available Wednesday night showed the bridge had a sufficiency rating of 65. Bridges with a sufficiency rating of 50 or less should be replaced, according to federal standards. Those with ratings from 50 to 80 are in need of rehabilitation. The inspection was done in May 2005.
The following are facts about the four other area bridges over the Mississippi River in the Quad-Cities:
I-280 Bridge: The Interstate 280 bridge between Davenport and Rock Island was built in 1970. It carries 21,200 vehicles per day and had a sufficiency rating of 67.9 after an inspection in August 2004.
I-74 Bridge: The west span of the Interstate 74 bridge between Bettendorf and Moline was built in 1935. It carries 12,600 vehicles per day. The eastbound span was built in 1960 and carries 20,300 vehicles per day. Both had sufficiency ratings of 60.6 after an inspection in October 2004.
Centennial Bridge: The Centennial Bridge between Davenport and Rock Island was built in 1940 and carries 14,900 vehicles per day. It had a sufficiency rating of 42.8 after an inspection in October 2004.
Government Bridge: The Government Bridge between Davenport and Arsenal Island was built in 1895 and carries 16,800 vehicles per day. It had a sufficiency rating of 36.2 after an inspection in July 2001.
