A new effort called Plant A Tree Quad-Cities will donate 125 trees to nonresidential areas to replant after the storm.

Modern Woodmen of America and WQAD-TV are sponsoring the project.

Locations will be chosen through an online vote at wqad.com.

“After the storms passed in the Quad-Cities, there was a lot of picking up to do,” said Jill Weaver of Modern Woodmen. “Modern Woodmen and WQAD knew there must be a way we can help get our neighborhoods back to normal.”

Residents can vote for the location they believe needs replanted trees. The top vote-getters will receive trees. Up to 125 trees, valued at up to $150 each, will be planted in the fall.

Modern Woodmen’s Plant A Tree Program, initiated in 2004, gives members the opportunity to plant trees in their communities. More than 80,000 trees have been in the past four years through the national program.
