Three times, at three different locations, within 76 minutes around downtown Davenport, Nick Lee’s condition prompted concerned people to call for help Thursday.
But when emergency crews responded, he said he was just sleeping.
Lee, 18, of Moline, was first found unresponsive near the Café on Vine at 12:17 p.m. Thursday. Medics responded with lights and sirens blaring.
“When medics arrived, (Lee) told them he had been sleeping and he could sleep wherever he wanted,” a police report says.
Then, at 1 p.m., a passerby noticed Lee lying in the parking lot of Club Fusion near the Centennial Bridge.
Again, fire and medic responded with lights and sirens. Again, Lee told the emergency workers, who recognized him from the Café on Vine, that he was sleeping.
“The firefighters warned the man not to do this again,” the police report says.
And then, at 1:33 p.m., a security guard at the Davenport Public Library found Lee on his back with eyes open near the entrance of the library. However, Lee would not respond to his questions. Emergency personnel were called for a third time.
“He again said he was sleeping and wasn’t breaking any laws,” the police report says.
Police arrested Lee on three counts of filing a false police report. However, Judge Mary Howes dismissed the charges Friday. The charges did not fit — Lee did not file any false reports, she said.
