Thirteen minutes into the race with the lead runners far past the intersection at 8th and Brady, a man could be heard calling out to runners still making their way up the Brady Street hill, “Come on, runners, you’re not going to win it this way.”

Jason Mahn and his two kids, 6-month-old Gabe and 2 1/2-year-old Asa, waited eagerly on Brady Street for the kids’ mother to make up way up the hill. Both kids held signs encouraging “Mommy.” Mommy is Laura Evans-Mahn. As she passed by, Jason yelled his encouragment and the kids waved.
